Lakers 91,
Mavericks 70: Box Score | Game Detail
LAS VEGAS – Arthur Kaluma’s prolific scoring and a dominant second-half team defense fueled the Los Angeles Lakers to a 91-70 win over the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night in Summer League action.
Kaluma, an undrafted forward out of Texas, led all scorers with 34 points on 11-for-16 shooting, including a 6-for-10 tally from behind the arc.
The Lakers held a slim 47-44 halftime lead, but Los Angeles would separate in the second half largely due to a suffocating defensive effort.
The Mavericks could only muster 13 points apiece in the third and fourth quarters, while the Lakers piled on another 44 to win going away.
LA outpaced Dallas significantly in multiple categories, including via a 42-24 edge in paint scoring.
Adou Thiero provided 15 points and four rebounds in the winning effort. Peter Suder led Lakers reserves with 14 points. Chris Mañon added 10 points and eight rebounds. Rookie first-round pick Cameron Carr didn’t play due to a thumb injury.
Ryan Nembhard set the pace for the Mavericks with 12 points and five assists.
Rookie ninth overall pick Morez Johnson totaled 10 points, five rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
Rookie second-round selection Tobi Lawal finished with eight points and five boards. Johnson’s fellow first-rounder Sergio De Larrea managed five points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
The Mavericks are back on the court Monday evening against the Memphis Grizzlies (7 ET, ESPN), while the Lakers next tangle with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night (10 ET, ESPN).
